DUE BY THE END OF CLASS!!
Task: to expand our understanding (not just you, the whole class) of poetry devices and poetry forms. You will work with a partner of your choosing. Sign-up sheets are in the front of the classroom. These documents will be made available to our classmates.
Assignment:
1) Create a word document which gives two examples of your assigned device/poetic form. Identify in the poem and explain at the bottom of the page what your poem demonstrates and how. Please note the poem title and author. Think of this as a stand-alone document that should be self-explanatory. The reader should understand it merely from reading it – you do not need to be there to explain!
2) On a separate paper, write an essay in which you explore how the poetic device/poetic form enhances/accentuates/reveals the meaning of the poem. In other words, how does the form or device contribute to the poem’s overall meaning? You should only give yourself 30 minutes for the writing!
